Burry Port Methodist Church

When a group of Cornish tin miners came to Burry Port to work in the foundries they missed their English language Methodist Churches.

They asked their boss if land were available to construct a church and this he made available at a peppercorn rent. They then set to work and built the attractive little brick building near Burry Port Harbour.

An exciting new development has been the new Leslie Griffiths Centre attached to the rear of the church, and comprising a modern meeting/conference room and adjacent kitchen facilities.

Burry Port English Methodist Church has a small but welcoming congregation. Services are held on a Sunday afternoon and are a mixture of the new and the old. People of all ages are welcome including children who will be catered for if the come. The Church has good disabled access and facilites.

There are a number of church run community events through the week including a ladies craft and interest group on a Monday and a drop-in for the ‘young at heart’ on a Tuesday where folks are encouraged to drink tea, eat toast and play board games.

The centre is used by a number of community groups through the week from mums and tots to belly dancing. Our rooms are available to rent at very competitive prices.
